Can Designers become Founders? How to design, build, launch & land new products as a designer

Aman Sagar is the Head of Product & Design at Planet 9 Studio, which is a new venture studio based in New York City. He is currently driving the design and development of an app called Vivid that uses interactive games, activities & rewards to teach children essential life skills to handle everyday challenges.

Prior to this, Aman has worked with Microsoft Research, Motorola, Adobe Systems, Amazon and Google, where he built products that are used by billions of people across the world. He holds five utility patents and his research is cited more than 480 times by scholars in their respective fields.

Aman’s talk will focus on planning and execution strategies that would enable designers to actually build and launch products. He will also touch upon how he overcame the challenges posed by his immigration status in the US that initially prevented him from moving to the startup world.

The UX Speaker Series is hosted Thursdays in Winter Quarter by the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington. Presentations are open to the public.

Depending on the speaker's preference, a recording will be posted to this webpage after the event. View the full schedule at hcde.uw.edu/ux.
