The Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) Outstanding Alumni Award celebrates alumni whose achievements demonstrate the mission and values of our department.
This award recognizes alumni who have made exceptional contributions in their professional fields, demonstrated leadership, and impacted their communities through innovative work or service.
The inaugural award will be presented in 2025, with nominations accepted from January through May 1.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the HCDE Outstanding Alumni Award are evaluated on the following:
- Professional Achievement: The nominee has made notable contributions to their field through a distinguished career trajectory or significant accomplishments.
- Publications or Innovations: The nominee has made impactful advancements through research, publications, or the creation of innovative tools, systems, or methodologies.
- Leadership: The nominee has made outstanding contributions as a leader within their profession or community.
- Community Service and Public Benefit: The nominee has made a positive difference by dedicating time and effort to initiatives that serve the public or enhance their communities, including contributions to addressing societal or environmental challenges.
Through these criteria, the award seeks to recognize the diverse achievements of HCDE alumni who inspire and influence others while reflecting the core values of Human Centered Design & Engineering.
Submit a Nomination
The HCDE Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes alumni who exemplify professional achievement, leadership, innovation, and service. Eligible nominees must be alumni of a degree granting program in the department (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD graduates) and meet one or more of the criteria listed above. Nominations may be made by HCDE alumni, faculty, staff, and instructors. Self-nominations are encouraged.
Nominations accepted through May 1
Nominees will be reviewed and final awardee selected by the HCDE External Partnerships Committee. The inaugural award recipient will be announced in June 2025.
