Projected Increases 2025-2028

The Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering is committed to being a responsible employer and ensuring the faculty and staff are compensated fairly for the work they do in fulfilling the educational mission of the department. In addition, we are committed to making costs as transparent to students as possible to assist with providing a future roadmap for financial planning purposes. Thus, we are providing these details to describe projected changes in tuition costs for HCDE’s MS program between 2025-2028. The table below shows the planned increases.

What kinds of things does the increased revenue make possible?

The projected fee increases support program operations such as:

  • Need-based financial aid to improve the access of the program.
  • Financial stability for the department as salaries for faculty, staff, part-time lecturers, and teaching assistants are increased to accommodate inflation, raises associated with merit review, promotion, and other adjustments.
  • Need-based financial aid to improve the access of the program.
  • Space and facilities improvements, including upgrading of hallway common spaces on 3rd and floor floors, additional conference rooms and A/V equipment, increased accessibility to common spaces, etc.
  • Improvements to teaching for courses that require advanced or consumable equipment, such as makerspaces, physical computing, capstones, and virtual reality.
  • Continued support for SA, GSA, and student events.
