Application Fee Waiver

Eligible Pipeline Programs

For student participants of the Eligible Pipeline Programs listed below, the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering will pay the program application fee. Please complete the Application Fee Waiver Request Form to request payment before submitting your application. We cannot pay fees retroactively for applications that have already been paid for and submitted.

If you did not participate in one of the programs listed below but have participated in another program similar to the activities and goals, you may submit an Application Fee Waiver Request. Please include program details, website links, and documentation in the appropriate section of the form. Once submitted, the HCDE Admissions Committee will review your request and respond within 7 business days.

  • The request will be evaluated based on the following criteria as outlined by the HCDE Diversity Mission:
    • A. The program MUST support students or professionals working or studying in STEM, Engineering, or related fields in UX/UR/UI, and;
    • B. The program has an academic research component OR the program supports the involvement of students, professionals, or participants from systematically under-resourced or underrepresented communities in STEM, Engineering, or UX/UR/UI fields.

Alternative option for fee waiver: The UW Graduate School waives fees based on financial need and for McNair Scholars and PPIA fellows; see this page for details
