In April 2024, HCDE instructors Sarah Coppola and Sourojit Ghosh led a community workshop on adapting visually-based courses for blind and low-vision students.
In the workshop, Coppola and Ghosh overview best practices around creating accessible course content, the basics of universal design for learning and instruction (UDL/UDI), configuring courses for hybrid and hyflex learning, and share specific adaptations they made adapting a design course for blind and low-vision students. The session concludes with a group activity to crowdsource ways instructors can bring to their classes to make them more inclusive.
